snow
When Denise got home from work last night, she surprised me with plans to drive up to Lake Tahoe this morning to play in the snow. All week long we've had plans to go, but the weather hasn't really cooperated. We got up early this morning, and drove towards Lake Tahoe via US-50. Unfortunately, the road was closed about 40 miles west of Lake Tahoe due to an avalanche warning. We were forced to get off the highway, and the traffic was badly backed up. It took about 45 minutes to get off the highway. At that point we drove down a road, in the hopes that we could find somewhere else suitable to play in the snow. At the point where we got off the highway, the road was clear, the temperature was slightly above freezing, and the snow was actually melting. As we drove southeast from the highway the temperature dropped, and the amount of snow increased significantly. We drove about 8 miles further down the road, and the snow got rather deep, and we never really found a suitable spot to stop. We ended up just parking in a lot and eating lunch in the car. The drive back to the highway took about an hour since only cars with chains were being allowed on east bound.
We watched Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events tonight. It was amusing at times, but overall it was somewhat silly.
