need more sleep

Something is badly broken somewhere. Why is that lately i've been getting less sleep (against my will) than I was during the first year of Davi'd life? He woke me at 6AM yesterday, 7AM today. Sure, i'm choosing not to go to bed earlier, but the fun of a weekend is to sleep in, not go to bed early. argl.
Yesterday there was a fairly large brush fire about a mile from where I live. We could clearly see huge plumes of smoke just beyond the hills. At one point we saw helicopters dropping water on the fire.
I watched Leaving Las Vegas last night. Talk about depressing movies. If I didn't have enough problems right now, that surely made me a hell of alot less upbeat about things.
