We awoke early, and drove back to the eastern end of the Going to the Sun Road to hike the Virginia Falls trail. The trail was quite beautiful, meandering downhill through the forest to a raging waterfall. Even better, since we arrived early (8AM), we had the falls to ourselves the entire time. Next we drove further north up to Many Glacier. The road out there was in sad shape from the winter, with the pavement completely missing on some stretches. However, the views were awesome. We hiked a few miles down the Grinnell Lake trail, which actually paralleled Lake Josephine. At that point it was early afternoon, and we drove back to the campground (Cut Bank), and hiked a bit over a mile down the Ptarmigan Pass Trail(4th from left, below), which was rather nice and isolated. This trail is used almost exclusively by backpackers to the interior of the park, so it gets fairly low traffic.
