A wild one

Today wasn't bad, but it was eventful. Started off noticing that one of our customer's boxes hasn't gotten backed up in over 4 months. Seems that the backup tape needed to be rotated long ago, and never was.
Then I spent a chunk of the day still fighting with hardware problems for the new oracle server. I think that i've finally gotten it sorted out, after replacing the Mylex RAID controller, and two Quantum SCSI drives that were coming up with sense key errors. I've got the beast in burn-in over the long weekend.
Then right at lunch time, another customer's oracle server melted down when it ran out of disk space. Seems that their DBA's hadn't been monitoring the box at all. That also seems to have gotten resolved by late today.
I'm still fighting with getting MS Visual Studio installed. I still can't fathom how anyone thinks the crap from Microsoft is anything but a toy. I've got an entire 18GB drive sitting completely unsused, yet this crappy installer is insistant on installing on the first drive that is 99% full. I'll figure out some kind of hackjob solution next week.
Traffic driving home was expectedly bad. Took about 40 minutes to get home. I did find a bit torrent for the RotK soundtrack today, so i'm eagerly looking forward to getting that downloaded.
I hope to make my cranberry-apple pie tonight.
