Yosemite - Dewey Point

::: {style="text-align: center;"} :::

David & I got up at 5AM for the long drive out to Yosemite. We made good time, and were on the trail by 9AM. The hike for the day was the McGurk Meadow trailhead out to Dewey Point (7.8 miles roundtrip). The first half (2.0 miles) of the hike out was primarily downhill, and blasted through it in 40 minutes, even with a few stops to enjoy the lush meadows. Unfortunately, the 2nd half was mostly uphill, in a dense forest, with several stream crossings, and that took about 70 minutes. The hike was well worth it, as we only saw 3 people the entire way out, and had all of Dewey Point to ourselves. By the time we got out there, clouds & fog had moved in, so we didn't get to enjoy any nice contrasting shadows in the valley, but it was still pretty. Ribbon Falls was running at full force directly across the valley from us, and we had an excellent view of El Capitan as well. We ate lunch there, and started to hike back when it seemed like it was starting to rain. We did the roundtrip hike in just under 4 hours
