long day

I worked from home today, because we needed to take david for a speech evaluation. Last night was a miserable experience. David didn't sleep well, and on top of that, the morons next door have started in with the loud bass music again. They had actually stopped for a few weeks, which gave me a glimmer of hope. David kept waking up for short periods of time, and then was completely awake just before midnight. He was really warm, and had a 102F temperature. We have him some tylenol, and a little water to drink, and then he actually fell back to sleep for the rest of the night.
This morning he was back to normal again, so we're not sure what was wrong last night. So we took him to the speech pathologist this morning. David spent most of the time playing with assorted toys, while she observed him, and interviewed us about his behavior. She didn't find any developmental problems other than his ability to form words, which is apparently known as apraxia. The official diagnosis has to be written up, with a course of treatment recommendation, and provided to the pediatrician, and then we'll most likely take him for therapy twice a week for 30 minutes each time. The pathologist said that apraxia is normally curable.
The rest of my day was spent playing catch up with work, and it was hectic. Denise's mother leaves tomorrow.
