home...finally

Today was 10 tons of fun, inverted. After waking at 5AM to go to make it to the airport for out (supposedly, more on this later) 9:15AM flight home, we made the uneventful 70 minute drive to the airport. All seemed to be going smoothly, except that our flight was pushed back to 9:30AM. Now ordinarily this wouldn't have been a big deal except that we were living on borrowed time with David, who had essentially been awake since 2AM PDT. So then we were subjected to the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration, basically the airport security nazis) security gauntlet, which means that it took 90 minutes to go from getting our boarding passes to reaching the gate. All of our luggage was pulled apart, as some big burly stupid redneck security guards got their jollies in rifling through other people's personal items to protect us from those evil terrorists lurking around every corner. I just loved how they attempted to make small talk while handling all of our personal effects:
TSA Goon: So where are you flying today?
Me: San Francisco
TSA Goon: Why are you in Pittsburgh
Me: Well, i was visiting relatives
So, after that lovely ordeal, we stand in line to have our carryons violated, and then finally the flight, which is completely full, so Denise and I end up sitting in the aisle and center seats. David was figiting and squirming from the moment we stepped onto the plane, and basically didn't stop until he passed out from exhaustion about 90 minutes before landing. It was about as hellish as it could be.
Thankfully the remainder of the day has gone reasonably well. The cats were in one piece, although there were about 8 small piles of vomit throughout the house, and they used a blanket on the floot as their litter box (perhaps because their real boxes were full).
We're all thoroughly exhausted, but at least were back home in sunny California. Yes, there not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature is in the 70s with a nice breeze. Its good to be home.
