hello, LIRC, are you there?

I took a stab at getting ATRPMS. Next I started up lircd, followed by mode2. I hit a bunch of random buttons on the remote control (while pointed directly at the IR receiver), but got nothing. At this point, I'm honestly not sure what to do next. The IR receiver might be broken. Or I might just be doing something wrong. I just have no clue.
In other news, after getting 4 days of glorious sunshine, the rain & clouds returned on friday, and its been dreary ever since. Its supposed to clear up a bit for a few days at some point this week, but that isn't looking too promising right now. Ugh, and then there's the jury duty fiasco on Tuesday.
