happy busy fun

I was really busy today, but it was a good busy.
<!-- Colin was away, pretending he was in sales, which meant that he wasn't bugging the hell out of me at all. This meant that I was able to be productive today, without distractions or interruptions. --> Its a good thing, because we got four new servers in today.
The 2U server, in a Chenbro chasis, has the following components:
Tyan K7X (S2469)
Dual Athlon MP 2600
2GB Corsair PC2100
Adaptec 2120S RAID
3 Seagate Cheetah 36GB 15k U320 SCSI in a RAID5 array
Now I ran into some annoying problems where the installer in Redhat Enterprise Server 3.0 just didn't like like the motherboard & RAID controller combo. It took about 30 minutes to format 60GB ext3, and when it started to install the packages, the kernel would Oops. After alot of pounding my head on the wall, I got some help from an ex VA Linux employee who suggested passing "acpi=off" at the installer command line. That semi-worked, but it seems like once I removed the case cover, the install really worked reliably. So I've got two of the four servers loaded. I still need to upgrade the kernel to 2.4.26 and also attempt to convert the filesystems to XFS.
