grrr...argh

Over the weekend we finished watching the last season of Buffy. The series finale wasn't all that satisfying. Throughout much of the last season it seemed like they would build up to something amazing, and I felt a bit let down. Sure, the entire town was sucked into the hell mouth, but beyond that it was mostly business as usual. I kinda want to watch the entire seven seasons over again, since I think i'll pick up on alot of things the 2nd time around. Joss Whedon did do an amazing job creating very detailed back stories for all of the characters. They were definitely not one dimensional. We're still working out way through the 3rd season of Angel. Denise hates it, and i'm mostly ambivalent. The plotlines aren't anywhere near as good, and the characters aren't as interesting either. It has improved from the first season, where there was no arc, and each episode was largely independent of the others.
I acquired a GMail account over the weekend from someone I know that works for Google. Overall I can't say that i'm all that impressed. There's not much that I can say that hasn't been said by alot of others all over the place by now. I think the fiasco over their privacy policy is overdrawn. Its internet webmail. Anyone who expects complete privacy has some fairly warped expectations of a free mail service. The site is completely javascript driven, and its some fairly bloated javascript at that (over 100K just to get logged in). The javascript does make it feel rather snappy & responsive. I can't say that I like the way they're forcing me to manage my email based on their new work flow rules. Since I've got 1GB of storage, they are trying very hard to encourage me not to delete anything, and not to create folders to sort my mail. They want to focus on their search functionality as a way of easily locating old mail. Yea, whatever.
Today started off as a pretty decent day, and then went downhill fast in the afternoon. Alot of random craziness at work.
