Expired & Turn the River

I watched Expired tonight. This film could be summed up as the story of a pathetic person whose life brushes with the opportunity to get better, and then swerves back to an even more pathetic place. The thing is that it wasn't even depressing because it was so utterly pointless.
Continuing in the series of bleak movies, I saw Turn the River next. This one was actually decent, although rather depressing. Her life was a complete mess, yet she sacrificed everything to be with her son, and yet it still turns out poorly.
