I finished listening to the audio book version of JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion this week. I had been listening to it for the past 7 weeks. To put it mildly, it was long, complicated and very wordy. I lost track of the number of characters, but there easily over 100. There were also a few dozen distinct plot lines. It did have some interesting parts, and provided some good background on what I had seen in the LoTR movie trilogy. Admittedly, I don't read fiction, primarily because i just don't have the time or attention span to follow a story for that long. Yea, I suck, i know, but that's the reality. I'm going to start The Hobbit audiobook next.
Denise's parents flew in from Pennsylvania last night, so we had to pick them up at SFO. It was fairly uneventful, and we're stuck with them until Oct 3.
