another movie
I watched Mystic River earlier this afternoon. It was ok. I'm starting to see a pattern or theme amongst Clint Eastwood's 'modern' (those that aren't the spaghetti westerns or Dirty Hary flix) films. They all seem to be cop movies to some degree. At any rate, I was somewhat disapointed at the ending, because they were building up to a really gripping climax, and then instead of letting the viewer attempt to sort out what happened, they just dump everything at you in the span of 2 minutes. It was as if they realized that they movie was running long (it is over 2 hours), and needed to wrap things up quickly.
I'm also not a big fan of New England movies, which this was. They always come across as gritty, blue-collar experiences, which are a bit draining. Its as if there is nothing else interesting going on in new england, especially around Boston, other than what happens in the lower-middle class suburbs.
BTW, I've uploaded 19 new pictures in the past two days. I don't think any are spectacular (mostly the lighting is bad in many of them), but overall I think they're ok.
