ugh
What a week its been. Mass chaos. Hardware failure, numerous software problems, and an ever increasing workload made this a week that I'd rather not repeat any time soon. Windows, how I loathe thee. I spent the better part of today fighting to deploy two new vista boxes. One of them was capable of nothing more than a BSOD every time I installed the display driver. The other displayed nothing at all as soon as the OS started to boot.
Of course, we continue to experience rapid test infrastructure growth. We're approaching 70 test systems, and with each additional system the odds of experiencing hardware component failure increase for any given day. The sad part is that the highest reliability has come from the lowest end motherboard that we're using. The higher end boards have experienced a much higher rate of failure. Clearly Google's methodology of using cheap hardware appears to hold merit.
