the cove
We watched The Cove last night, which is the documentary that exposes the ongoing mass slaughter of dolphins in a small Japanese fishing village. Overall, I liked it, but at the same time, it felt really long and dragged out. It was stated (and therefore obvious) from the start that a dolphins were being slaughtered in this Japanese village, so the slow buildup to how this was documented on film was incredibly anti-climatic. Yes, the actual footage was graphic, and disturbing, and was needed to convince others of the problem, but I felt it was a flaw of the documentary to make that the focus. Anyway, it was a good documentary, but there are no surprises at the end, its exactly what they tell you it will be from the start.
