that's no fun at all

Today started off poorly. I get into work to find that one of our servers crashed with a cryptic "corruption of in-memory data, filesystem has been shutdown" error. Basically the box was DOA. I was able to get it back up fairly easily (a few runs of xfs_repair), but I have no clue what the hell went wrong. It could be hardware, or some obscure kernel bug. So i upgraded the kernel to 2.6.9 (from 2.6.7). Hopefully that will take care of it. If it happens again within the next few days, then i'm going to have to assume i've got a hardware problem on my hands (either RAM, or the RAID controller).
Once I got past that debacle, I spent much of the rest of the morning battling a service pack. Stupid thing needed alot more QA, and I ended up needing 3 hours to rebuild my installation after the SP left it in an unrepairable state.
The remainder of the day wasn't too eventful, thankfully.
I took the cats for their anual checkup tonight, to the tune of \$250 for the exam, and distemper and rabies innoculations.
