Since Thursday evening, we've been in the midst of the first large winter storm of the year. By storm, this means rain & wind. When I got into work yesterday morning, I discovered that several systems in the lab had spontaneously lost power at 6:40AM. Later in the day, we found that the graphics card in a different system had died (it was the 2nd card, so it wasn't obvious at first). Then there was the drive home, which took me close to an hour, as the last 4 miles took 30 minutes. The power was randomly out on some blocks, which caused the traffic lights not to work. I got home to find two 7ft long tree limbs had fallen on the sidewalk in front of the house as well. The weather today has been a bit better, just mild showers, with occasional sun.
