snap, crackle, POP!
The SGI 21" CRT that I've had for almost 2 years was never in the best shape. I purchased it for a really low price refurbished, and it was always acting somewhat wonky. At first, I was occasionally getting weird static-like colored lines. Then that went away, but the picture quality has degraded somewhat over time. Then in the past few months it would have weird orangish horizontal lines for a while after being turned on. Then in the past few days its started to make popping sounds, where the picture would flicker for a second, as if there was some arcing going on. So we fear that its on its last limb, and might die at any time.
After some discussion, we decided to replace it with two 19" LCD flatpanels. I did some research and just purchased two of these. I'm going to set them up in TwinView for glorious 2560x1024 resolution.
