passat
I bought a new 2006 VW Passat this morning. I ended up having to play the ever popular "let's make a deal" game (which getting the online quote was supposed to avoid). The salesman did start off with the price in the quote, but magically added in all these other fees that shouldn't have been there. So we had to start making up stories about how other dealers' quotes were actually more competitive once all these extra fees are added in, and then we went back & forth before compromising. Looking back on it, I did get semi-screwed. I ended up paying about \$250 more than what was originally quoted. However, my out of pocket was \$17k once the trade-in was added in. So I guess I got a good deal, but I'm not as excited as I should be, considering that I've got a really cool new car. I guess I'm just still having a hard time accepting the fact that I spent so much money all at once. It just never felt like real money in the past when I was getting a car financed. Then it was just a few hundred a month for a few years. Now its about 9 months of saving up, getting spent all in one day.
