kingman sucks
Today we drove to Kingman, Arizona. It was a long drive, and roughly the first half (up through Bakersfield) was really boring. I always liked the portion starting with Mojave, cause I love the desert scenery. The irony of it all was that the temperature hit 76F as we were driving on I-40. We got into Kingman just after 4PM (MST), and the craptastic Motel6 where we stayed was one of the worst we've ever slept in. And I say that from experience, as we've stayed in quite a few Motel6's across the country. To start, because it was such a warm day, the room was super hot when we walked in, so I turned on the AC. The AC was broken (or it was shutoff) as all it did was blow the same hot air which was already in the room. We opened the window, but because the curtains were hung such that they only opened from the side opposite where the window opened, it was impossible to get any air without leaving the curtains completely opened. So, we ended up leaving the door open instead for a while. While that did help to cool the room off a little, it didn't really help enough (even though it had cooled down alot outside). Other problems were that the sheets & pillows, and beds were incredibly uncomfortable. On top of that David was super hyper after sitting in a car for over 8 hours. Thankfully, David was fairly well behaved in the car that today. We ended up going to Pizza Hut for dinner, because the obvious choices were rather limited, and Pizza Hut was the closest. Sleeping was a nightmare. It was too hot, the sheets were like sand paper, and outside, we kept hearing random car alarms going off, and a freight training going through town at least once/hour. I got about 5 hours of sleep, and Denise got even less. David seemed to sleep ok though.
