harvest time

After months of waiting patiently, the garden is finally producing. We've been getting a steady trickle of tomatoes for a few weeks now. First it was some really sweet, juicy gold ball sized yellow heirlooms, and now full sized reds are ripening. The peaches are finally beginning to ripen as well. I've had a few, and they're pretty close to perfect. Not too juicy, not too dry, and slightly tangy. The apple tree is ready as well. We started picking a few last week, and I picked about a dozen more yesterday. They're not the best apples in the world, but they're definitely edible. We're still unsure exactly what kind of apple they are. They're a pale green, and just slightly tart, but they're definitely not granny smith.
The green beans are starting to come along, but so far there aren't too many. The peas still need to ripen a bit more. The carrots are growing like mad, or at least the leafy green stalks are, but so far no obvious actual carrot roots poking up. The pumpkin vines are growing rapidly, with several huge yellow blossoms on each, but it will likely be a few months before there's anything to pick there. The mixed lettuce greens are growing ok, but nothing from the spinach. The strawberry bush is growing ok, but there's no sign of any berries.
