fun & a heart attack
Yesterday we went up to the city, and had a pretty good time. We started off at the Ferry Building. We wandered around a bit, and then picked up some Bento boxes for lunch, with some sushi. Afterwards, we drove over to the Presideo, and took a 2.5 hour walking tour of the woods. The scenery was quite nice, and weather was gorgeous. We finished off, with a fantastic dinner at Firefly. I started with a really rich Red Onion and Goat Cheese Tart with Mixed Greens and Pine Nut Salad, and Denise had the Shrimp and Sea Scallop Potstickers
with Sesame Soy Dipping Sauce. We got two orders of the Channukah Potato Latkes with House-made Apple Sauce and Sour Cream, one of which went straight to David's voracious mouth, and the 2nd we shared. For my main, I had Braised Beef Brisket in Pot Roasty Gravy, Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Broccoli, and Denise had the Grilled Pork Rib Chop with Bacon, Apple and Red Potato Hash, Broccoli Rabe and Mulled Cider Sauce. For dessert, Denise had the Pumpkin Brioche Bread Pudding with Pears, Rum Crème Anglaise
and Spiced Pumpkin Seeds, and I had Honey Yogurt Panna Cotta with Pomegranate Syrup and
Almond Pinenut Macaroon.
I spent much of the day today trying to get Vista installed on 3 different systems. Late in the afternoon, I unconsciously put my hand in my left pocket and thought to myself, "hey, this pocket is empty, that can't be right". And sure enough my wallet wasn't there. Immediately, I'm freaking out, trying to think how or where I could have lost it. I ran out to the car to see if perhaps it fell out while I was driving, but no. I searched frantically all around my cube, but nothing. Finally, before sending out frantic emails to half the company, I figured I'd call Denise just to make sure that I didn't forget it at home. Turns out, I did. I've never done that before, but thankfully it was there, and a semi-disaster was averted.
