expensive feline
Mona cost us over \$400 today. She had been acting weird for a few weeks, insisting on spending the entire day sitting on the window sill (and falling off every time she'd fall asleep), and exhibiting tremors, especially when sleeping, and she's been sleeping alot more than normal lately. Then two nights ago, Denise noticed that she had a huge, bloody gaping wound on the back of her hind leg. We couldn't figure out where it came from, but we bandaged her up, and put on the cone. Denise took her into the vet this morning. The diagnosis at this point is that she is severely allergic to fleas, and was injuring herself attempting to scratch at them. However, the vet couldn't find any fleas on her today, so its still a bit of a mystery. As for the gaping wound, the only guess is that it was self inflicted. A lot of blood was taken for lab tests, and she has prescriptions for several antibiotics to prevent the wound from getting infected. We're supposed to get the blood test results back tomorrow. This is the same cat that cost us over \$1200 almost 6 years ago when she swallowed a piece of plastic and needed surgery to remove the obstruction from her intestines.
