Darwin dhcp-172-16-178-33 9.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.0.0

Yes, I've gotten a Macbook Pro at work, and started playing with it. Personally, I can't stand the UI at all, which is just as well, cause 99% of my interaction with the system is over ssh. Darwin Ports also seems to make a decent packaging system. A few odd quirks that I've discovered are:

<li>

.bashrc doesn't seem to get used at all. I needed to create .bash_profile instead

</li>
<p>
<li>

/etc/passwd (and friends) is only some weird stub. The other normal user accounts end up going into some non-flatfile database (maybe LDAP based?)

</li>
<li>

Since X doesn't run by default, the entire DISPLAY concept, along with forwarding over ssh is all retarded. Everything run in ssh on the Mac still shows up on the Mac desktop

</li>

There's prolly a ton more yet to be discovered. Overall, its going alot more smoothly than I would have imagined. Mac's really have a decent sized Unix fanbase, so there's a ton of fairly well documented tidbits online.
