climbing

I ate my words yesterday. No sooner did I claim that it was a slow Friday than all hell broke loose. We got it all under control, but for a good hour or so, I was doing about 5 things at once.
Also, I'm being ordered to attend a "field operations" meeting on February 11 through 13 at a hotel in San Francisco. In addition to getting less than 2 weeks notice, there is no clear agenda of what is going to occur at the meeting, and its hours each day are 8AM-8PM. And to top it off there is some ridiculous dress code of business casual. Now seeing as how I wear shorts to work every day, I'll be damned if i'm going to dress up for some team building exercise. I'm going to push really hard to get exempted from the entire damn time wasting thing. I've got a few excuses lined up (some genuine, others falsified).
This morning, Chris & I hiked Mission Peak in Fremont. The starting point was about 400ft up, so we had to do roughly 2100 more feet to get to the top. It was a moderately rigorous hike. I'd say that the last 500ft were the hardest, as it became very rocky & steep. The views from the top were amazing. I could see San Francisco to the north-west, all of the peninsula, San Jose to the south west, Mt. Diablo to the north east, and way out on the eastern horizon, the Sierra Nevadas, with their snow capped peaks. It was also rather windy & cold at the top. The hike took about 2.5 hours up, and roughly an hour back down. The hike down was actually more physically demanding, because it was so steep. I've got about 4 blisters on my feet now.
