and the saga continues
I left work over 2 hours earlier than normal today to bring the Passat into the body shop. They took one look at the frontend damage and told me that they'd have to perform a "tear down" in order to accurately estimate the cost of repairing the damage. A "tear down" basically means that they need to tear off the front end of the car (bumper, headlights, grill, you name it) before they can determine how much damage there truly is. They also commented in passing that the car might be totalled. Unbelievable. I've had this car for roughly 2 months, and it might be totalled. If there was any good news, they let me leave the car with them, rather than driving it back home again, only to take it back again when they had time to do their tear-down. So the car is now sitting in the body shop's parking lot, and they're supposed to do the tear down by Tuesday. *sigh*
So I get back from that, and in the mail are 3 envelopes. Two from my insurance, and one from the insurance company of the idiot who rear-ended me (Progressive, for the curious). The first from my insurance is a California form for reporting vehicular accidents. I thought the whole point of getting the cop to take the accident report was to avoid having to fill this out, but apparently not. Its a standard government form, requiring me to enter the same information 3 times, with none of it being terribly useful. The 2nd envelope from my insurance is their own form, where I have to document the entire event in writing. I thought the point of calling in the claim and talking to the insurance adjuster two days ago was to avoid this. The last envelope was this retarded letter from Progressive requesting that I call them to provide my side of the story. *sigh*
In other annoying news, I still haven't received the registration and plates for the new car, that might be totalled 2 months after its purchase. I called the DMV this afternoon, and they were useless, and passed me off to a different phone number in Sacramento. I called that number, and they didn't know why I was redirected, since they couldn't help me. All that they could tell me was that I needed to go to the DMV (ARGHHH) to get the entire thing sorted out. So tomorrow morning I get to wait in line at the DMV.
As if I didn't have enough misery & frustration, I have the potential for getting called into jury duty on Thursday of next week. I'll find out for sure once I call in on Wednesday evening, but I'm expecting to get screwed.
After having one gloriously sunny day yesterday, we're back to more rain today, through at least Monday.
I'd like to just end April right now, and skip to May, cause this month sucks.
